After two bus rides; one 12 hr. and one 6 hr., we are in San Martin De Los Andes, a town about the size of Fountain Hills. It reminds us of a downsized Breckenridge or Jackson Hole. It's definitely a ski town.
Their law to discourage large condos/hotels from ruining the skyscape has succeeded in keeping the place looking like a town in Switzerland. While walking around near the lake (we are in the Lake District of Patagonia) and the side streets of the town center, it was fun to find the unique garbage containers of San Martin De Los Andes. They fit right in with the wood of the houses---- even the telephone booth matches! The trees remind of us so many places we have visited and/or lived over the years, especially the mountain ash trees. Being from the UP of MI, we immediately noticed the steepness of the roofs on the houses. They must get some serious snow.
We are here for 4 days.
Adios, Maria&Roberto
Hi Maria and Roberto!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely town. The tunnel effect of the first picture is great - are those roses? What kind of tree has those red blossoms? Everything looks so green and inviting. Snow again tonight here in Breckenridge.
