I could not, at my age, be content to take my place by the fireside and simply look on. Life is meant to be lived! Curiosity must be kept alive. -Eleanor Roosevelt

Guayaquil, Ecuador 2 days ago...

The sights along the Malecon 2000, the shining star of the new and improved Guayaquil. We've gone from the coolness of the Southern Andes to the Coastal heat and humidity.

Two famous people (San Martin and Simon Bolivar) on the Ave 9 de Octubre and two touristas meet in Guayaquil. This is the 1937 statue of the independence heroes shaking hands.

The Malecon 2000 is a wonderful 1 1/2 mile walkway along the riverfront.

Colonial architecture along the street side of the walkway.

Guayaquil is undergoing urban renewal and reinventing itself with far-reaching plans for future growth. The Malecon 2000 walkway with its shops, artwork and parks is the newest jewel.

  1. I LOVE the double exposure - the color and whispery outline of you and Bob are great - how did that happen with a digital?
