Santiago has about 6 million people. We're staying in a small hotel in a very beautiful area called Providencia. The streets are lined with trees, it's quiet and we walk everywhere. Today we went up to a high point by gondola to see the Mother of Santiago at Parque Metropolitano de Sanitago. We also walked around Parque de la Esculturas, not far from our Hotel Orly. There's a HUGE statue of the virgin Mary up on top of the hill overlooking the city... keeping her citizens safe and happy. We also visited the chapel, walked around getting various city views; looking at the Andes gave us a glimpse of what we'll see tomorrow on our 8 hr. bus ride over the Andes to Mendoza, Argentina!
We're thinking of changing the name of our blog to kuopusculinarycapers... just kidding, but we are having a fun time eating interesting foods. Today we lunched for 2 hrs., met a couple from Canada who are renting from vrbo.com here. We had a nice lunch and great conversation. She was born in France, he was born in Croatia... lots to talk about. We're enjoying being castaways!
Adios until Mendoza and Vandamia (their famous wine festival---- malbecs or bust!),

Wow! Beautiful pics of Santiago. The Virgin is HUGE! Leave it to you two to find Canadians who are originally from France and Croatia...
ReplyDeleteGlad you're having so much fun. Tell your bus driver to go slowly over the Andes. I can't find on the International clock what the time difference is between Denver and your destinations in Argentina. If you know, E-mail me - I'll put on Skype.
Bob thinks the shot of the city looks like LA. I love the fruit picture! Totally love that you are doing this blog. Hugs
