I could not, at my age, be content to take my place by the fireside and simply look on. Life is meant to be lived! Curiosity must be kept alive. -Eleanor Roosevelt

Adelaide... South Australia

Adelaide has about 1 million people. It is our favorite city in Australia. Adelaide enjoys a Mediterranean climate with warm dry summers and cool winters. The colonists who arrived here in 1836 captured Adelaide's architectural heritage in fine stone work. We like the wrought iron, the balconies and the overall feel. Even the Golden Arches took advantage of the architecture! Adelaide has a sense of space. It's the city of parks and wide open tree-lined boulevards. It's known as the cultural center of Australia. We walked the city today and enjoyed it very much.

On Christmas Day 1973, we awoke in our 2 person tent about 20 min. from the city, near the beach to celebrate Christmas Down Under! Here we are 37 years later enjoying the city again.

On our walk, we came upon the "bird watchers", who were strolling down the street. They were happy to have their picture taken for the blog.
