Over the Andes again!

We couldn't believe our luck with our second trip from Santiago, Chile over the Andes to Mendoza, Argentina. The weather was perfect for taking pictures through the bus window. And, we snagged great upstairs seats right in front of the window! The second bus ride was just as wonderful as the first one two years ago. What spectacular views! What great weather. But where is Aconcagua? Hiding again!

Enjoy our 6 hour ride  and our one hour passport control stop via the photos.

Our of the city of Santiago heading towards the Andes.

27 curvas ahead! Get ready to go up and up and up.

Let's all stay on our own side of the road. Curva number 1.

Love Los Andes. Let's go!

Just a bit of snow falls here in the winter. Avalanche sheds help a lot.

All in  all, 27 curvas... which we call switchbacks.

Yeah, the last one!

Those trucks are hauling goods over the Andes from Argentina.

How about the views from this little ski resort. Wow!

Adios Chile.

I love the mountains, especially when you go THROUGH them!

That's our bus, waiting in passport control for all of us to go and exit Chile and enter Argentina. Our seats were the front ones up top. Nothing like having the mountains in your face! Love it.

Might as well eat some chips while waiting for the passport control folks to check our bags.

Over the mountains and through the curvas to Argentina we will go.

Lots of tunnels to go through, rivers to see and mountains and blue sky to enjoy. And then we took a little nap and next thing we knew, we were in Mendoza, Argentina.

  1. Mary - can't believe how deserted that highway looks! (Possibly a good thing!)
