Arrived in Bariloche after a 4 hr. bus ride on a partially paved/dirt road; up and over the mountains. Sitting back and enjoying the gorgeous seven lakes from our seats was a nice experience. The sights of the lakes, rivers, mountains, and forests kept us entertained. The scenery was spectacular! The buses in Argentina are a good way to travel on the cheap. Plus, you don't have to worry about the driving. Buying the tickets and finding the bus station adds to the adventure of the trip too.
Bariloche is our last stop in Northern Patagonia. We'll have to save Tierra Del Fuego (the bottom of the world)--- Sud Argentina for another trip. We also will have to return for the famous Iguazu Falls and the Northern part of Argentina. So much to see and so little time! (Yes, yes, we are away for 2 months, but we're barely touching
the sights of this enormously beautiful country.)
Bariloche is a town that has seen its better days. It's situated on a hillside that overlooks a serene-picture-perfect-postcard lake with mountains surrounding the entire area. But the town itself is the total opposite of San Martin De Los Andes because over-development has put ugly cement condos and apartments everywhere. It's a mess. Luckily, a short walk to the lake or a short drive away and you are back to the forested mountains, the turquoise lakes, the magestic mountains, the colossal peaks and the forests. Beauty is just around the corner.
Well - you and Bob must have gone "just around the corner" - the pictures are beautiful.
