Rock formations... Lorne, Great Coastal Area, Victoria

The "rock art" was great on the beach in Lorne, along the Great Coastal Road, Victoria, Southern Ocean, Australia.

We leave here tomorrow to continue our journey along the Great Ocean Road. Our destination is Port Campbell near the famous sentinels; the Twelve Apostles. The description in our brochure says that we should encounter vast sea canyons, gorges, blowholes and battalions of cliffs.

Begun in 1919 (the year my father was born) and finished in 1932, the Great Ocean Road is dedicated to the memory of the First World War returned serviceman who built it using only picks and shovels. Today the road is an absolute pleasure to travel. As it twists and winds along the Southern Ocean, we'll be seeing untamed scenes; some of Victoria's most dramatic state, national and marine parks. Tomorrow's drive should be a humdinger! It is one of the world's truly unique road trips.

  1. Let's try this again...I lost the first message to you. Our honeymoon trip was along the Great Ocean road. The scenery is spectacular! Please leave a special rock along the way so Rog and I can have another 21 fun years together.
