Day 2-3 Santa Elena, Monteverde, Costa Rica, Centro America

Day 2
Our 5K walk up and down the narrow, hilly, rocky, muddy, pot-holed-dirt road into town gave us our exercise for the day. It was a great day to be out walking as the sun was shining all day. We walked around the town, went into a few tourist shops and had a general first day look-see. Bob had fun feeding carrots to a local goat and a beautiful black horse in a paddock. We enjoyed the views of the Cloud Forest from atop a hillside from afar. After eating a nice lunch of avacado salad, we bought groceries and took a cab ($4) back to our vrbo cottage. A spaghetti dinner with left-over steak from the night before filled us up and then we watched The Sopranos on DVD (no TV here) and went to bed early.

The nights are cool and very windy in the Cloud Forest. The altitude is about 4,500 ft. It gets dark at 6pm, but is light before 6am in the morning. We are one hour ahead of AZ time.
