CastawayKuopus…a travel blog
I could not, at my age, be content to take my place by the fireside and simply look on. Life is meant to be lived! Curiosity must be kept alive. -Eleanor Roosevelt

Manuel Antonio National Park, Costa Rica
Jose and his son Tony (on his college Christmas break) drove us to the entrance of the Nat. Park. and dropped us off. We had 5 hours of wandering around this beautiful park which is a tropical forest located on the Pacific Ocean. It's the smallest National Park in Costa Rica and has 4 gorgeous beaches. We hired a guide for an hour to teach us about the flora and fauna. Plus, he had a scope so we could see the sloths way up in the treetops. He took the picture of the sloth through the scope. We saw two-toed sloths, agoutis (little brown animal), coatimundis, lizards, white-faced monkeys, raccoons, and lots of different birds. It was humid and probably in the mid 80s, but the ocean breeze kept us cool. We walked on the park paths and took a longer hike up into the forest and around Punta Cathedral to an ocean overlook. The town of Manuel Antonio is a short distance from the park. We had a nice lunch of fajitas pollo. We're going to eat all the Mexican food while here as we know we won't be getting any in South America.
