I’m writing this from the card room on the ship. It has big bay windows and I’m blogging while gazing out at the choppy Pacific Ocean. It does seem weird to be in the Pacific Ocean using wifi off of a satellite up above.
The ship is steady. The stabilizers on this ship really do make a difference. When it’s super-duper rough seas, they work too, but the pitch of the ship can sometimes cause me to feel sick. Luckily for me and for many others, we only experienced 2 days out of 20 that were what I’d call horrible. And, luckily for me, I felt sick but did not GET sick. Amen to that.
We are on the last leg of our cruise. The last 4 days we’ve been in Chilean waters, stopping at small and big cities along the coast. I only have a few pictures to show. Most of the towns we visit are a stopping off point for tours inland and/or to get fuel, food, allow people time off of the ship etc. None of the Chilean towns were places to necessarily see stuff. . We have been watching our $$$, since we still have about 2 months to go, so we haven’t been on any tours for over a week. We walk the towns to get some fresh air and outdoor exercise.
This photo was taken in the gorgeous library on board the Oceania. 2 possible titles. 1. Where in the world are we? 2. Where should we go next?
Oh! Are the stabilizers working?
Getting ready for winter.
The whole town as seen from the ship.
A person could get used to this kind of dessert each and every night!
Travel is about seeing how others work, play, eat, and basically live. It’s not always a pretty picture, but it is always good to see that people all over the world are doing the best they can do with what they have. The little port town of Chacobucco is a good example. I’ve put a few pictures from there to show a port town with people chopping wood for their fire places, houses they live in and the interesting trees that grow there. They don’t get a lot of sunny days. Most of the people work at the port and/or fish for a living.
We have loved being on this cruise. It has taken us around the bottom of South America to the end of the earth! It has also introduced us to travelers and crew from all over the world. Some of the travel stories we have been hearing make our travels seem lame. These folks travel! It's a joy for us to hear them talk excitedly about the world and what it has to offer us. What do travelers mostly talk about? Their travels of course!
