Hola from Punta Del Estes, Uruguay,
After a super-long 24 hours from Cancun, Mexico to Miami, FL to Lima, Peru to Buenos Aires, Argentina, we arrived in Argentina for a much needed overnight stay. We've never done 4 countries
in one day and we'll probably never do that much travel in one day ever ever again. Whew!
We're repeating a stay in Punta Del Estes, Uruguay. We so enjoyed it here several years ago (in the month of March) that we decided to return after attending the wedding in Mexico. We're renting a nice condo that is 3 blocks from one of the fabulous beaches. Bob is able to golf often as he found a great course for a good rate. I beach comb and run on the beach while he golfs, we take long long walks on different beaches when he isn't golfing and we also hang out at the pool at our condo. We've gotten into a nice retired life of spending time in the sunshine getting massive doses of Vitamin D3, weight-lifting three times a week, walking as often and as long as possible, golfing for Bob and mucho calf building for Mary! We also love to stop at our favorite beach-side restaurant after a long hike on the beach for a nice cerveza, a bowl of mussels and some extra salty french fries--- all very very yummy and necessary after "earthing" at the ocean's edge (sometimes it's the Rio De La Plata).
March is the month to come to Punta as most of the Argentines are gone back because school started its new session in Feb. Otherwise, this town would be crazy with people. Cruise ships stop here periodically and make the town seem busy, but basically, Punta del Estes is a wonderful place to be during this time of the year. We're away from the hubbub of Punta and only go into town to go to the bank.
You'll find people from all over South America visiting here, especially Brazilians, as it's very close for them to head south for a vacation in a quiet, small country that can boast of great wine, wonderful vegetables and superior grass-fed beef! We enjoy all of the above along with the mussels which are really special.
Punta Del Estes is located north of Montevideo where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Rio De La Plata.

With Punta Del Estes in the background the Rio De La Plata is the place to be "earthing." We walk in the water to gain all of the benefits that earthing can bestow on our well-being.
During most walks on the beach I encounter me, myself and I! |
…and a few seabird tracks and feathers that they lose.
The sea birds like to hang out on the beach when the waves are huge.

When the sand is super soft my leg muscles get a nice workout. As you can see, I have the beach mainly to myself.
A jogger came along as I got nearer to Punta.
Barefootn' near Punta's Yacht Club.
Mejilliones! My favorite mussels made with garlic and parsley and white wine. These are ultra-yummy. Muy Rico!

I thought Bob was going to jump into the computer when he saw those mussels! Can't believe those wonderfully deserted beaches. I'm glad you provided a map - Jim is here with boys, and he wants to know exactly where you are. Snowing hard here - I'm enlarging your photos and pretending I'm at the beach!
